Gratitude to Brian Slagel for his role in the history of heavy metal. Such a humble guy for someone so instrumental in introducing what has become so important to so many people. The book flows smoothly, is well written and interesting and even though he has every right to be, it's not at all braggy. It's a joy to read about the beginning of the American metal scene in his words. Such a like able voice and writing style.In the right hands and with the right casting, this would make a great scripted film.
Good, fast and easy read. It tells the story of Brian's passion for metal and the impressive business he grew out of that. The important thing for fans of metal to know is that this is a book about he story of Metal Blade records, but not a story about metal itself. If you are looking for in depth discussions about the artists, or their creative process, you will not find it here, but if you want to know the story of one of the most important indie labels in the world, this is a great read.

A great read. As someone around in the eighties when Metallica and speed metal broke, I could totally relate to the music and times. Was great to hear the background of what was going on in the industry. Metal Blade touched on so many areas of popular culture. Thoroughly recommend this book.
It was a good read on the history of the record label with some cool stories from Brian's past.
